23:5923:59 is a poster series highlighting various environmental crises. Inspired by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the series reinterprets their symbolism to represent four different forms of ecological destruction. Each theme is presented in two versions: one depicting the current crisis and another envisioning a nightmarish future.
Visually, we wanted to capture the dark, ominous tone of the apocalypse, drawing inspiration from heavy metal album covers. The black ink outlines and deep color palette create a moody, atmospheric effect, while subtle shifts in hue help differentiate sections within each composition.

Stories on the Posters

The posters’ compositions feature a series of small scenes, blending real-world environmental crises with imagined doomsday scenarios. These narratives are explored in greater depth in our extended booklet, where we also explain how we reinterpreted the Four Horsemen into our vision of four distinct apocalypses.
While the present and future versions share identical compositions, we emphasized their contrast through distinct artistic styles—steampunk for the present and cyberpunk for the future—as well as opposing color schemes, with warm tones for the present and cool tones for the future. This visual shift reinforces the passage of time and strengthens the message of preventing environmental collapse.
