Unknown, is the best Journey: The Road to Israel is a hybrid travel guide/journal about Ann, a 22-year-old Taiwanese exchange student, who embarks on a transformative journey through Israel, experiencing the country through the lens of a local and a tourist.
Cover and Layout
The cover uses a Middle Eastern desert photo provided by the author to create a visually appealing backdrop. The Hebrew sentence "behind the mountain at the end" adds to the appeal of the cover, making it more attractive to its target audience. The title font is written in a fast motion with an ink brush, which conveys an adventurous quality that is cohesive to the book's theme.
To enhance the sense of culture, the majority of texts in the layout design are set to a serif font. Angled lines were frequently used to assist with the hierarchy of different texts and convey a hint of Middle Eastern-like aesthetic. This design approach creates a visually pleasing layout that is both informative and aesthetically pleasing.
Promotional Design
The book achieved success in terms of sales owing to its numerous publicity events, including book launches and promotional shows. To make these events visually appealing, the promotional images extended the book cover photo as the background to create powerful and eye-catching visuals. This was particularly important in Taiwanese bookstores, which typically have a more neutral color tone.
